Welcome to artfully delicious!! My name is fabiola and I am so happy you are here!! I started this website to share my passions with you. I love color!! And black and white..lol! On this website color will come to life :) In the next few weeks I will be sharing recipes that entice not only your taste buds, but also your eyes. #eattherainbow is my motto, and for that matter, #rainbow everything!
Food is only one part of this website. You’ll also find my artwork (coming soon for sale) and my favorite accessories. All colorful and exciting :) Look around, explore a little, and come back often as I update it with more colorful goodies!
Now let's get back to what we were talking about...rainbow food!
Isn’t it amazing how our beautiful earth provides us with an assortment of delicious fruits and veggies?! The most healthy foods are plant-based and are vibrant in hue. What is appealing to our eyes is certainly appealing to our bellies! Consuming a variety of colorful food provides us with vitamins, minerals, fiber, and phytochemicals. Each hue of color gives us insight on it's nutrient content. In the next few weeks, we will be looking at each color and we’ll learn what specific nutrients help our bodies thrive.
Specifically, the color content of food gives us insight on the type phytochemical it may contain. Simply put, phytochemicals are awesome!! These substances are only found in plants. Phytochemicals have protective characteristics that help us prevent diseases.
The picture above displays an array of colorful goodies that I used to make vibrant meals. Stay tuned for the next blog posts that will feature all of what I made for ya'll! For now, lets start with something everyone loves! Finger food! First thing I ate with all that food above, was an assortment of veggies to dip hummus in!
It's easy eating colorfully...just chop up some veggies and eat it with your favorite dressing or dip.
You can also drink your fruits and veggies! By making your own juices and smoothies, you can be sure that you are taking advantage of the highest level of nutrients, as opposed to juices found in stores. Fresh is always best! Plus, no added refined sugars make fresh juices and smoothies fantastically healthy! Ripe fruit is so delicious and sweet, you won't miss that white processed sugar ;) The combinations of flavors are endless! I'll share in the next blog posts the recipes for these juices and smoothies. Stay tuned!
Not only are fruits yummy in smoothies and juices, but eating them whole is just as beneficial. Eat a mono meal of just one fruit, or enjoy an array of color. The more fruit you eat, the more fiber you consume, thus cleaning out that gut! ;)
To conclude, a plant-based diet rich in fruits and vegetables contains little fat, no cholesterol and provides us with important complex carbohydrates, fiber and nutrients. How could our bodies not thrive on such delicious and nutrient dense foods?! Each of these amazing colorful foods have different nutrient profiles that our bodies love! After all, a fully plant-based diet was our intended diet right from the very beginning. So care for yourself and nourish your body with nothing but the best ;)
Thank you so much for reading! Talk to you guys soon! :)
much love and peace,
